PRACTICAL GUIDE

Make a document photo clearer before sharing it

Correct perspective, reduce uneven paper shading and protect sensitive visible details.

A document photograph can be difficult to read because of perspective, shadows, a color cast or a large file size. These problems need different treatments. Imvori can straighten a page and improve its appearance, but it does not perform OCR, recover missing text or verify that a document is authentic. Keep a faithful original when the unmodified record is important.

Improve the capture first

Place the page on a flat surface, use even light and hold the camera as parallel to the paper as possible. Keep all four corners in view and avoid glare. If a character is completely covered by reflection or motion blur, increasing contrast cannot reveal the original character. A new photograph is usually better than repeated strong processing.

Correct the page shape

Use Straighten document and select four corners clockwise: top-left, top-right, bottom-right and bottom-left. The tool maps that quadrilateral into a rectangular page. Choose the page edges rather than a surrounding desk or a shadow. It corrects perspective, not the physical curvature of a book or a folded sheet. Open the resulting version before applying document cleanup so the next edit uses the straightened page.

Clean paper shading and text contrast

Choose Clean document. Grayscale reduces color distractions and attempts to compensate for uneven paper brightness while retaining fine text. Black & white applies a stronger threshold and can be helpful for a simple printed form, but it may remove faint pencil marks, small punctuation or a pale stamp. Start with a moderate strength. At full strength the black-and-white treatment discards intermediate tones, so inspect the smallest meaningful content carefully.

Protect information you do not need to share

Remove metadata strips source EXIF and GPS information, but it cannot hide an address printed on the page. Use Redact to select a visible region and choose Solid cover when you need a complete visual cover. Export the processed image and check that the sensitive area is covered in that file. Imvori’s image export is a flattened raster; keep the original privately if you need an unredacted copy.

Export for the destination

PNG is useful for clean small text because it avoids another lossy encode. If a portal requests JPEG or a strict file size, choose that format and inspect the text after compression. Images to PDF places selected images on pages; it does not create searchable text. Local tools keep the image in the browser, while selecting a server processing tool uploads the selected version. Download before closing the session.
